The harvest is one of the most important phases of the productivity process. In this regard, the self propelled chipper Claas Jaguar is considered one the most suitable machine for this purpose. In 2013 a comparative harvesting trial was organized to test the machine performance in five different Short Rotation woody crops. The highest work speed has been recorded during the poplar harvesting (4.24 km h-1), while lower work speed was recorded during the eucalyptus harvesting test (1.55 km h-1). In terms of woody biomass, eucalyptus was the most productive species among those studied. Hence, if on one hand the eucalyptus required to work at low speed, on the other hand its high yield per linear meter did not affect the performance in terms of hourly productivity.
